Cheap flights To Lagos News: 30 licensed jobless Nigerian pilots stormed the premises of the Nigerian Association of Aircraft and Pilots ( NAAPE ) in protest against the entry of expatriates in the aviation industry of Nigeria. The protesters who protested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport ( MMIA ) in Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, said that the arrival of expatriate pilots as well as engineers in the aviation industry is the major cause of them being jobless. All the 30 protested are licensed to fly planes in Nigeria but not given the opportunity to fly planes by the airlines. One of the protesting unemployed pilot said that aeronautic graduate engineers who are not even type rated on any aircraft are given employment by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority ( NCAA ) to issue license to aircraft maintenance engineers. The angry protester furthermore said that the NCAA had not carried out any license examinations for future aviation practitioners for almost a year and stressed that the situation was not good for the progress of the sub sector. With a deeper research, by design of their profession, aeronautic personnel are supposed to be in the factory where plane are being manufactured. Aeronautical engineers are destroying the future of the licensed aircraft maintenance engineers in the country are the allegations of the protestors and they want to be employed again.
